Gamescom 2023 will take place in the final days of this August, specifically between the 23rd and 27th, and Microsoft is coming in strong. The American company had already announced that it would bring a great lineup of games to the German fair, and today we can put a specific number on it: we will see no less than 30 titles, among which, of course, stand out the big releases for the Xbox ecosystem for the rest of the year: Starfield and Forza Motorsport.
Many of these games will actually be available for attendees to try, although neither of the two mentioned above will be among them. Among the titles that attendees can get their hands on are Towerbone, the new game from Stoic – creators of The Banner Saga – as well as the latest content for The Elder Scrolls Online and Microsoft Flight Simulator.
But as we said, we will see up to 30 games, including confirmed titles like Payday 3, Jusant – by Dontnod -, Amored Core 6: Fires of Rubicon, Phantom Liberty – an expansion for Cyberpunk 2077 -, Spotlight, Persona 5 Tactica, SteamWorld Build, and many more. However, there is also another standout title that we haven’t heard from in a while due to force majeure. We’re talking about STALKER 2, which will finally make an appearance.
The Ukrainian studio GSC Games World has faced, like the whole country, the challenges arising from the war in Ukraine, encountering numerous problems during development, among which remote work has been the least of them. The Ukrainian studio has seen some of its members join the armed forces to fight the Russian invasion, even suffering the loss of one of them. Finally, they can show us new information about their popular survival game set in a Chernobyl devastated by radiation.
Several other companies are yet to confirm their presence at Gamescom 2023, but what is certain is that of the three hardware manufacturers, Microsoft won’t be the only one present, as Nintendo will also be there, unlike Sony, which we already know will be absent. On another note, it’s worth mentioning that on the night of the 22nd, we will see the opening gala, Opening Night Live, hosted by Geoff Keighley.
