We tried Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile on Android: sublime in every aspect with 120-player battle royale matches

The wait has been long, but it’s worth it for the mobile game of the year because of everything it entails and its technical/graphical quality.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile launched its registration page on Google Play in November 2022, and its release date was announced last year with regional availability. A lot of time has passed since those announcements for the big day to finally arrive and for the new Activision mobile game to be downloaded to enter a 120-player battle royale.

Mobile games seem to have stagnated in recent years, and even Battlefield Mobile, which seemed poised to rival the new COD, was canceled to the surprise of many. A game store ‘infested’ with freemium titles and monetization based on microtransactions has not led to premium titles that attract the attention of millions.

This is precisely where Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile fits in, as it will capture the attention of thousands in the coming days and weeks. A game that requires 7.7 GB of internal memory on the phone and can presumably be played on a large majority of mobile devices; logically, the better the smartphone, the better the graphical experience will be.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile - 01

COD: Warzone Mobile brings battle royale to the table as its main dish, aiming to captivate the tens of thousands of players who enjoyed PUBG Mobile back in 2018. PUBG Mobile surprised with its graphical quality, gameplay, and commendable multiplayer performance, becoming a sensation in the following years.

Significant Graphic Capabilities

Naturally, years have passed since PUBG Mobile, and smartphones have exponentially improved their hardware capabilities to deliver better graphics and gameplay with various factors to achieve a fully immersive console or PC-like experience.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile - 02

To achieve this, Activision brings a game that demands everything from the mobile device to take graphics to the next level. In tests we conducted on a Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, the experience is very good (although the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has to suffer a bit to warm up, it was about time we saw it like this to perform at its best).

Of course, this new game for Android brings freemium elements and that battle royale experience where you start from scratch to gather weapons and all kinds of equipment for the team to survive and ultimately win. In other words, it maximizes the battle royale experience in an intense game that exudes a high dose of adrenaline for the player from the first moment.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile - 03

Thanks to the improved graphics and processing power of mobile devices, COD: Warzone Mobile offers exquisite gameplay where automatic movements are applied to jump over obstacles or open doors automatically. It’s evident that we’re facing gameplay superior to what was known in previous Android battle royale games.

In fact, from the settings, you can switch to the maximum level, although it cannot be activated on the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra as it is not compatible with this preset (yes, surprise). However, it allows changing the general preset among five different options: minimum, low, medium, high, and maximum. Other options include battery performance improvement, refresh rate, using high resolution on mobile data, FPS, and field of view.

A pure ‘battle royale’

After going through the quick tutorial to choose between automatic or manual shooting and learning a few things about gameplay, you proceed to the first battle royale match where you enter with other players. The experience is as expected, with the zone gradually shrinking until only the surviving team remains.

On the home screen, players can choose from various multiplayer modes, which are:

Just after finishing, and with some details like the ability to heal with medical equipment, the match ends to move on to ranking up, weapon upgrades, progress in the battle pass, and challenges. This is what is expected in a battle royale, with the battle pass costing 9.99 euros per month to access higher levels, and of course, at a higher cost.

However, one can completely ignore the battle pass and enjoy a game that arrives on Android with its homework done and months of testing in its regional launch to be optimized enough to enjoy intense matches with up to 120 players.

Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is now available on Android and iOS internationally and is set to become one of the sensations in gaming in the coming weeks, not only on mobile but also attracting players from consoles and PC. A great game to rescue the mobile and enjoy some good matches right from the comfort of your home sofa. Download it below:
