The WhatsApp trick to hide chats and prevent anyone from finding them: they only appear if you enter a secret code

In November of last year, private chats with a secret code arrived, allowing certain conversations to be perfectly hidden. These private chats linked to a secret code prevent them from being seen and practically go unnoticed if the secret key is not known.

This WhatsApp feature introduced months ago offers multiple experiences. One of them, the most logical, is to hide certain chats in cases of relationship infidelity, while in a completely different context, it provides peace of mind to protect certain conversations when a separated mother or father leaves their phone with their young daughter or son.

It’s common for parents going through separation or already separated to leave their smartphone with their child at certain ages. So, if an intimate conversation from a stranger appears, the simplest thing that could happen is for the kids to ask the parent about it, so this measure protects the family unit.

Indeed, it doesn’t negate that one of its main uses is for infidelity in relationships, but when someone usually leaves their phone with others, those more ‘sensitive’ chats can already be hidden forever in this way:

The only thing to keep in mind is that if you forget the code and try to create a new one, all private or hidden chats will be deleted. And accessing hidden chats is done in a simple way:

A nearly new experience from WhatsApp to securely store locked chats with fingerprint and make them completely unnoticed, even for the youngest who may take their mother’s phone for a while, or for those who discover that their smartphone has been inspected by someone else.

It’s a current moment where the chat app is receiving privacy-related updates so that neither a screenshot of the user’s profile can be taken nor a phone number is needed to add a contact thanks to the alias feature, although this update is yet to arrive.
