We say that the hype has risen, but can it be elevated beyond outer space? Science fiction lovers are eager for the day to play Starfield, Bethesda’s ambitious RPG where we’ll explore the galaxy. The game has set its release date for September 6th (buyers of the Premium and Constellation editions can enjoy the game from August 1st), and to celebrate that it’s getting closer, Bethesda has once again generated very high expectations with new details about the factions, our decisions, and their consequences in the world.
Just a few days ago, we talked about how stealing will be more challenging than in titles like The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, and now it’s time to do the same with a very important element in Bethesda’s games: the factions of Starfield, whose importance in the story and our travels through the galaxy seems to be absolutely momentous. It was the producer, Jamie Mallory, who explained some very interesting aspects in the company’s official blog.
In a brief round of questions aimed at getting to know a figure as important in the development of Starfield as Mallory, he delved into the game element he likes the most among all the ones he has recently worked on, and the answer pointed directly to the factions and the content they will provide to the players. Do you remember when we told you that those who have tried it are amazed and claim that we will play “for years”? Well, it seems they weren’t wrong…
Mallory comments that lately, he has been focused on discovering the stories of the factions, and his words about it couldn’t be more exciting: “I’ve been blown away by the incredible variety of faction stories; it’s like unlocking a hidden treasure trove of captivating narratives that many players don’t even know exist. The boldest explorers who venture beyond the main story will find a real delight.”
When delving into the missions we will discover when interacting with the different factions of Starfield, Mallory assures us that it’s like “embarking on a great adventure within an adventure where each decision and interaction shapes the course of the story.” The theme of action and consequence, something characteristic in RPG video games, can be controversial when a title doesn’t fully exploit it, but this time, the producer invites us to trust his word: “The rewards are worth that extra time and effort.”
