Respawn Entertainment has justified extensively the reasons why they developed Star Wars Jedi: Survivor only for next-generation consoles. However, several months after its release, the studio is already working on versions for PS4 and Xbox One. This has been confirmed by Andrew Wilson, CEO of EA, in an investor meeting.
“Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is pure blockbuster entertainment, rooted in a timeless and culturally defining IP,” he commented. “Our team at Respawn has proudly released this critically acclaimed and commercially successful title. Millions of players have already enjoyed the game, making it one of the biggest events of the year in the galaxy far, far away of Star Wars.”
“Thanks to the power of this legendary saga and the demand from the community, the development team is committed to bringing this Jedi experience to PS4 and Xbox One.” According to Wilson, over the next year, they will capitalize on “key moments of the Star Wars brand” and continue supporting “this incredible game.”
Respawn Entertainment is also working on new updates for the existing versions, which were released with multiple performance issues and some bugs. The developer has stated that refining the product is a “priority” for them.
Star Wars Jedi: Survivor continues the story of Cal Kestis, a Jedi who survived Order 66 and fights to weaken the evil Galactic Empire. The game is available on PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, and PC since last April.
Stig Asmussen, the game director, said that he hoped to work on a third installment, a possibility that seems closer after a job listing suggested it.
