The screen error on the Galaxy S23 with the latest update is from Google, according to Samsung: here’s how it’s fixed

The update with Galaxy AI has caused a headache for many users with touchscreen errors.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 was updated to One UI 6.1 last week with a new build featuring Galaxy AI as the star, incorporating advanced functions based on generative artificial intelligence. This update has caused errors in the screen so that the touch response does not function as it should. That is, sometimes the screen is touched and it does not respond to the user.

One UI 6.1, based on Android, has been a highly anticipated update due to features such as Rodea for searching (which becomes more useful the more it is used because of the overall experience it offers), or some of the best features of Galaxy AI for translating WhatsApp messages in real time or performing text summaries in Samsung Notes.

The worst part is that users now have to press several times on the screen for the touch to register, and of course, it is a disastrous experience for many. Samsung is already working on a solution, although according to the Korean company, the error would have been generated by Google through the Discover app and its news feed that appears just on the leftmost home screen.

Samsung clarifies that Google is already looking for a solution to the problem, but in the meantime, the Korean tech giant is offering a temporary fix to users experiencing this issue: clear the data of the Google app and then restart the device. Once done, the screen should properly register all touches.

To clear the data from the Google app, you would need to log back into your Google account, and here’s how to do it:

Google’s solution would come through an update to the Google app, so it is recommended to have the automatic update option enabled in the Play Store. It is unknown when the correction through this update will arrive, so the temporary solution will allow continued use of the Galaxy S23 as was done before the arrival of One UI 6.1.
