Just a few hours ago, the cinematic trailer for Modern Warfare 3 was unveiled, revealing the return of Makarov, a villain many players will recognize from the 2011 title. However, Activision is already revealing all the details and has answered the big question that many have been asking: What will happen to the progress I made in Modern Warfare 2? The short answer is that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will respect almost everything you did in the previous installment.
Activision has explained in the official blog how the progress you made in the 2022 Call of Duty will transfer to Modern Warfare 3. It turns out that most of the content will be carried over, including weapons, cosmetics, operators, and other rewards. “For the first time in Call of Duty history, a significant amount of content from a previous Modern Warfare game will transfer and be available in the next title,” the company emphasizes.
However, what won’t carry over to Modern Warfare 3 are the game-specific contents of this title. Activision provides an example to illustrate: “If MW3 doesn’t have a specific Tactical or Lethal Equipment piece in any of its game modes, the skins you unlocked for these items in MW2 will not be in MW3.” They have also highlighted that there won’t be ‘carry back’, meaning what you achieve in this upcoming game won’t be available in Modern Warfare 2, as reported by VGC.
In addition to this, and as expected, Warzone 2.0 will also be accessible for those who purchase Modern Warfare 3. All weapons and their unlocked camos will become available in the upcoming shooter. The same goes for attachments, stickers, emblems, and much more. Lastly, remember that this title will hit stores on November 10th and will be further detailed with the unveiling of the new Warzone Season on August 17th at around 19:30.
