When we talk about a beloved genre like RPG, there are always names that come to mind – in addition to Baldur’s Gate 3. The Elder Scrolls, Dragon Age, Divinity… The list is long, but there is one series that always deserves to be remembered: Gothic. Its original installment from 2001 will arrive on Nintendo Switch on September 28. It is one of the most beloved role-playing games in history, and many people will have the opportunity to discover it for the first time.
This is not a typical remaster, as, similar to another classic of the genre like Risen, this version focuses on bug fixes and quality of life aspects for the user. One of the things that surprised most people who saw the trailer above is that, despite a remake of the game being in development, Nintendo Switch users will have to settle for a port of the original 2001 title. It is unclear whether this decision is due to technical reasons, which would make sense considering the spectacular graphics of the new version of the game.

The story of Gothic places us in the midst of the endless war between the inhabitants of the Kingdom of Myrtana and the orcs, fought in a hostile world full of monsters and other dangers, where the kingdom’s only chance is to rely on the wizards and their plans involving the magical mineral hidden in the caves of Khorinis Island. Gothic is considered one of the best role-playing games of all time, thanks, among other things, to the enormous freedom of action it offers the player when facing any situation.
