Electronic Arts will be closing the online servers for Dead Space 2, Crysis 3, and Dante’s Inferno, three titles from the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 generation, by the end of this year. Although the company has not officially announced the server shutdown for these games, the media outlet Pure Xbox discovered that EA has added them to a list on their official website of titles for which they intend to cease support by the end of 2023.
As reported, the online servers for Crysis 3 will no longer be available starting September 7th, meaning that after that date, access to multiplayer and online modes will be unavailable. Crysis 3 Remastered will not be affected as it does not have a multiplayer mode. On the other hand, Dead Space 2 and Dante’s Inferno will have their online servers shut down on December 8th. However, it’s important to note that these games will still be available for purchase on digital stores.
“Years have passed, and it’s clear that Dead Space 2 doesn’t manage to surprise in the same way the original did, but it has managed to reinvent itself. The twist for the protagonist, their new situation, serves to create interest, surprise us, and offer much more. The same can be said for the colony on Titan where it’s set. Perhaps some aspects of the story may not seem as well-threaded as they should be, but its plot is well-executed and keeps us glued to the screen as our nerves allow. It’s tense and knows how to generate that discomfort that distinguishes true horror from cheap gore, and it finishes the job with an interesting multiplayer, a good addition to enhance its replayability,”.
