Until recently, Samsung’s most advanced mid-range lineup belonged to the Galaxy A7X series. The latest model in this series was the Samsung Galaxy A73, presented in 2022. However, without any apparent reason, this series ceased to be updated with new phones. Consequently, the Galaxy A5X models became the top tier in Samsung’s mid-range portfolio, with the Galaxy A54 currently leading the way. Nevertheless, rumors have surfaced suggesting that this mobile family will make a comeback in 2024 with the Samsung Galaxy A75, which could also be named Galaxy A75 Pro, according to some reports. While not official, it’s a possibility. With a concept of this phone already existing, let’s delve into everything that is known.
The Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro would potentially be Samsung’s most advanced and comprehensive mid-range phone in 2024, at least in theory. This device would revive a mobile family that once enjoyed considerable success but, for unknown reasons, was set aside.
Samsung has not provided an official explanation for this decision, leading to various speculations about why they chose not to continue. Some speculated that Samsung aimed to streamline its mid-range and give more prominence to the Galaxy A5X series. This way, with fewer models in this segment, they wouldn’t compete as much against each other, and users would have a clearer choice. Whatever the reason, it seems that this series will make a comeback, potentially with the Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro.
The Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro is more of a concept than a reality, at least as of the time of writing. If this phone follows the release pattern of the latest series models, it might be unveiled in mid-March 2024, which is approximately two months away. Of course, it could be launched earlier, but without any leaked information, the most probable timeframe is around that month or later, anytime in the second quarter of the year. With regard to whether there will be a Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro in 2024, we can say it’s a possibility, but little more.
Rumored features of this phone include a Dynamic AMOLED 2X display, with no specified size. However, based on previous models in this series, it could have a diagonal of 6.7 inches, making it a sizable device. This display would also support HDR10+ and have a maximum brightness of 2,300 nits. It would feature FullHD+ resolution of 2,400 x 1,080 pixels, a touch sampling rate of 240 Hz, and an adaptive refresh rate of 120 Hz, which can vary between 120 Hz and 1 Hz based on usage and the application or game in operation.
The Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro is also rumored to have performance comparable to a flagship device, according to the original rumor publication. It suggests that the power of this phone would be similar to that of the Samsung Galaxy S21, the flagship model for the year 2021.
To achieve similar performance, the Samsung Galaxy A75 would come with the Mediatek Dimensity 1300, a processor with a 6-nanometer node size and an eight-core configuration working at a maximum clock frequency of 3.0 GHz. This chipset could be paired with a rumored 8 GB LPDDR4X RAM and an internal storage space of 128 or 256 GB of UFS 3.1 type. It’s possible that this phone may not include a microSD card slot for expanding internal memory, but this remains to be seen. Rumors suggest that it will indeed support microSD up to 1 TB, as its predecessor, the Galaxy A73, did.
The cameras are also expected to receive significant upgrades, though not necessarily the primary sensor, which might be the same 108-megapixel sensor as the one in the Galaxy A73. Despite having the same resolution, the Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro may feature a more advanced lens, but this remains uncertain. The secondary sensor could be a 10-megapixel wide-angle lens, while the tertiary one could be a 12-megapixel telephoto lens with Space Zoom, offering up to 100X zoom. Additionally, the Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro might be equipped with a LiDAR sensor to better detect depth and the environment, improving portrait mode in low-light conditions, such as at night.
The rumor also details some camera features of the Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro, including Optical Image Stabilization (OIS), support for HDR+, 4K video recording at 60 frames per second, and a cinematic mode, among others. It also mentions that the front camera will have a resolution of 40 megapixels and, like the rear main sensor, will be capable of recording 4K video at 60 frames per second.
The battery is another aspect frequently mentioned in this concept of the Samsung Galaxy A75, so we also know its estimated size. It is expected to come with a 5,000 mAh capacity, typical for many modern phones. The supported fast charging is rumored to be 30 W, something uncommon for Samsung phones. Remember that even Samsung’s most advanced mid-range phone, the Galaxy A54, has 25 W charging, like many other models from the brand. Advanced devices typically jump to 45 W, but none have 30 W. Therefore, this information might be somewhat imprecise. Nonetheless, it is estimated that the charging time for this phone would be around 65 minutes with the mentioned 30 W charging.
Other possible features of the Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro include Android 14 under One UI 6 (likely with four years of OS updates), an internal liquid cooling system, and a USB Type-C 3.1 port.
It is estimated that the Samsung Galaxy A75 or A75 Pro could be priced at around 500 euros for the variant with 8 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal memory. There could also be a variant with 256 GB of internal memory, and this might cost around 530 euros, according to rumors, although it’s unlikely to be priced below 550 euros.
