WhatsApp is working on what would be another significant addition to its application in a 2023 full of innovations for the instant messaging platform. As discovered in the WhatsApp beta for Android, the company is developing the ability to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device.
This upcoming feature was discovered by the folks at WaBetaInfo, who have shared an image of how it works on a device. Essentially, users will be able to switch accounts through a menu that appears similar to the account switching feature in the Instagram app.
Currently, it has only been confirmed that this feature is being developed for the Android application.
This would be very useful for individuals who use multiple WhatsApp accounts for reasons such as having a professional and personal account. WhatsApp recently introduced the ability to use the same account on multiple devices, but the next step is to support multiple accounts on a single device without compromising the security of the app’s encryption.
The availability date of this feature for users is unknown at the moment, but it is certainly another interesting addition that will come to WhatsApp, along with other features that have already been introduced, such as message editing, screen sharing during video calls, support for Android watches, and the ability to password-protect selected conversations in the app.
