The manufacturer owned by BBK Electronics has just officially launched its new flagship for this year’s mid-range. It is the vivo V40 SE, a model that aims to dethrone Xiaomi’s Redmi Note 13 with a combination of features that make it a very balanced option. Additionally, the company has announced that the device will be updated for at least two years, including two major Android version updates.

That phrase could summarize the new vivo V40 SE. Although its construction is based on plastic or a glass-derived material, the company has managed to achieve a 91.9% utilization of the front surface. Its 6.67-inch screen features AMOLED technology, a 120 Hz refresh rate, and an under-display fingerprint sensor. Note, its maximum brightness reaches 1,200 nits, with a peak brightness level of 1,800 nits.
Another standout feature of this model is its minimal thickness and weight: the Black Crystal version measures just 7.79 millimeters and weighs slightly over 185 grams. And it doesn’t skimp on battery capacity either, as it houses a 5,000 mAh battery with 44W fast charging. Another surprise from the brand is the IP54 protection that accompanies its chassis, granting it some resistance to dust and splashes.
As for its internals, the Vivo V40 SE is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 5G chip, accompanied by 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. In addition to receiving support up to Android 16, Vivo claims that the performance has improved by 10% compared to the previous processor model. It also guarantees that the battery will retain 80% of its health after four years.
Or at least that’s how the brand has announced it. The camera setup is not very different from other mid-range models: a main sensor of 50 megapixels, an 8-megapixel wide-angle, and a 2-megapixel macro. On the front, there is a single 16-megapixel camera. We can assume, therefore, that the two-times optical zoom would come courtesy of the main sensor through the device’s lens, although the company has not provided many details about it.
The multimedia section is rounded out with a pair of stereo speakers featuring a Volume mode that can boost their capacity by up to 300%, as we have come to expect from the manufacturer. Unfortunately, it lacks a headphone jack.
The phone is now available at usual retail points (Amazon, Vivo’s online store, etc.) for a starting price of 300 euros, including a 44W charger and Vivo TWS 3e earphones as standard.
