The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 and the Redmi Note 12 Pro are two smartphones known for their excellent value for money, making them great options for those unwilling to spend large amounts on a mobile device. However, given that many of their features are quite similar, you might find it challenging to decide between the two models if you’re considering a budget-friendly device. Both smartphones are intriguing choices for those on a budget, but there are subtle details that may sway your decision towards one or the other.
One factor that might lead you to choose the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 is its camera. The latest model from the Chinese brand boasts a 108 MP main camera, compared to the 50 MP main sensor found in the 12 Pro. While the wide-angle and macro cameras are similar, the difference can be significant for most of our everyday photos.
Another crucial point that might sway you towards this model is the processor. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 features a Snapdragon 685 processor, while the Redmi Note 12 Pro comes with a MediaTek Dimensity 1080. If you mainly use your phone for taking photos or sending messages, you might not notice much of a difference. However, if you’re into gaming or use performance-intensive applications, the Note 13 might be the better choice.
Both devices have the same internal storage and RAM, but the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13 allows for expansion via an SD card of up to 1TB, which the 12 Pro does not offer.
However, what might ultimately lead you to choose this model is the price. The most affordable version of this device is around 200 euros, whereas the basic version of the Redmi Note 12 Pro is priced around 250 euros.
The main reason to consider buying a Xiaomi Redmi Note 12 Pro, despite being a slightly older and slightly more expensive model, is that it comes with a 5G version. If you often browse the internet on the go or don’t use WiFi at home frequently, the ability to use a faster network is undoubtedly a significant advantage for this model.
The battery capacity is the same as the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13, with 5000 mAh, which should be more than sufficient for a day out without worrying about charging. However, the Note 12 Pro has the significant advantage of fast charging. While the Note 13 offers 33W fast charging, the Note 12 Pro goes up to 67W, allowing your phone to be fully charged much faster and ready to use. Contrary to the trend in other brands, both devices come with the charger included in the box, along with the USB cable.
Finally, it’s worth noting that although it’s slightly larger than the Xiaomi Redmi Note 13, it’s a bit lighter. However, the difference in both size and weight is less than a millimeter and less than a gram, making it insubstantial. In reality, the features of both devices are quite similar, so the decision to choose one over the other will likely be based on minor details.
