The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE is just around the corner, or at least that’s what the latest rumors suggest. A recent report has surfaced indicating that this high-end device will be unveiled soon, and we now have information about its release date. But not only that, we also have details about its potential key features and price. So, what can we expect? Let’s find out.
It seems that Samsung will be bringing back the Fan Edition series for the Galaxy S lineup, after abandoning it last year. Remember that the Samsung Galaxy S22 FE was supposed to be next in line, but it never arrived, making the Galaxy S21 FE the latest device in the lineage. This led to speculation that Samsung had canceled this family of devices, especially since they discontinued the Galaxy Note series to focus more on the Galaxy S series. It appeared that the South Korean manufacturer had changed its mobile division strategy for the future, possibly influenced by the chip shortage at the time and other external factors.
According to rumors, the arrival of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will involve replacing one of the most advanced phones in the Galaxy A family. It’s unclear which device will be sacrificed, but it’s likely that one of the Galaxy A5X or A7X models will be chosen, as these series boast top-notch features and technical specifications, and the Galaxy S23 FE will be an advanced performance phone.
The Samsung Galaxy S23 FE won’t bring any design novelties as it will be practically identical to the already known Galaxy S23. Let’s keep in mind that the Galaxy S20 FE and S21 FE didn’t dare to introduce significant design and construction changes compared to the Galaxy S series. Therefore, we can expect a phone that won’t be surprising in terms of aesthetics but will still be attractive and elegant, featuring three cameras on the back, straight edges, a hole-punch display, and a glass back. Additionally, the Galaxy S23 FE is expected to be as compact as the S23, making it a lightweight device weighing between 170 and 180 grams.
There isn’t much information about its display, but it’s possible that it will be slightly larger than the one on the Galaxy S23. Most likely, it will have a diagonal size of around 6.4 inches. Moreover, it will feature a high-quality panel, typical of Samsung devices. It will likely be an AMOLED (or OLED) display with a Full HD+ resolution of 2,340 x 1,080 pixels. A high refresh rate of 120 Hz and compatibility with Dolby Vision and HDR10+ standards are also expected.
The processor of the Galaxy S23 FE won’t be the same as the one in the Samsung Galaxy S23. In fact, it won’t even be a Qualcomm chipset. It appears that Samsung wants to go with the Exynos 2200, the processor used in the European version of the Galaxy S22. This might disappoint some, as the performance of this chipset is not the best. It has also faced issues with overheating, which has been a cause for complaint among many users.
The Galaxy S23 FE is also expected to come with 6 GB of RAM and 128 GB of internal storage. This would be the only variant of this device, although there is a possibility of another variant with 8 GB of RAM and 256 GB of internal storage. However, one thing that’s certain is that it won’t have support for a microSD card, so the internal storage cannot be expanded.
There isn’t much information available about its camera setup, but it’s expected to have a triple rear camera system with a 50-megapixel main sensor capable of recording 8K video at 24 frames per second. The other two sensors on the back would likely be a telephoto lens and an ultra-wide-angle lens. As for the front camera, it could be the same as the one found in the Galaxy S23, which is a 12-megapixel shooter.
The battery capacity of the Galaxy S23 FE is rumored to be around 4,500 or 4,700 mAh. Unfortunately, it will likely feature the typical 25 W fast charging found in most Samsung devices. However, it is expected to support wireless charging and reverse wireless charging to power other devices. Additionally, it will come with IP68 water resistance, an in-display fingerprint reader, facial recognition, dual stereo speakers, a USB Type-C port, Wi-Fi 6, 5G network support, NFC, Bluetooth, and GPS with A-GPS. If it is released at the end of the year, it would come with Android 14 and the latest version of One UI.
There is still no official information regarding the unveiling of the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, but it’s expected to be launched in the fourth and final quarter of 2023. This means it will arrive sometime between October and December, possibly a bit earlier.
As for its price, it’s expected that the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE will be more expensive than its predecessors. Samsung, like other mobile manufacturers, has been increasing the prices of many of its devices lately. We could be looking at a price increase of around 100 euros, making it cost around 850 euros (the Galaxy S21 FE was priced at around 750 euros at the time). This would still be cheaper than the Galaxy S23, which was released in Spain with an official starting price of around 960 euros.
However, its availability in the market will be more limited than before, at least initially. The Samsung Galaxy S23 Fan Edition is expected to be officially launched only in some countries and not globally. Hopefully, Spain will be one of these countries, but it’s not clear at the moment. Otherwise, it will have to be imported. However, it is important to confirm whether it is indeed in development, as some leakers, such as Yogesh Brar (@heyitsyogesh), suggest that the Galaxy S23 FE will not be released, thereby denying the rumor of its existence and future unveiling.
