For most smartphone buyers, the most interesting model isn’t the cheapest or the most expensive; it’s usually somewhere in between, and Redmi Note phones have filled that need very well with their devices. Now, the Redmi Note 13 Pro series is here, and it marks a significant leap forward from the previous generation.
The most advanced model in the lineup, the Redmi Note 13 Pro+, is pioneering in many aspects within the Redmi brand. For instance, it’s the first Redmi phone to feature a curved display, a detail typically associated with “premium” and therefore more expensive phones.
Specifically, it boasts a 6.67-inch AMOLED panel with a 120Hz refresh rate, notable for its peak brightness of 1800 nits and a 1.5K resolution. It’s not just that the screen is curved; this is also the first Redmi phone with an in-display fingerprint sensor since there’s no space on the curved screen for a side-mounted sensor.
The Redmi Note 13 Pro+ also pioneers in other areas. It’s the world’s first phone based on MediaTek’s new Dimensity 7200 Ultra processor. Built on a 4nm process by TSMC, this chip is designed to meet all the demands of modern users, including compatibility with hardware usually reserved for more expensive models, like processing large image files. A significant performance boost is also expected, making this model ideal for those in need of a future-ready smartphone.
However, one area where the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ doesn’t differ from the current model is the 200MP main camera, featuring a Samsung ISOCELL HP3 sensor with optical stabilization and a large sensor size, promising bright photos in various conditions. It’s accompanied by an 8MP ultra-wide camera and a macro camera.
Naturally, the design is new due to the curved screen. Xiaomi has taken advantage of this to make the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ the first Note with IP68 water and dust resistance certification (though not the first Redmi to have it).
Next to it, the regular Redmi Note 13 Pro isn’t as striking, as it continues the current lineup’s flat-screen design. But that doesn’t mean it’s worse by any means. In fact, there are no technical differences between the two models. Both feature a 6.67-inch 120Hz AMOLED panel with the same 1800 nits peak brightness. Aside from the flat display, the other significant difference is the processor; the base model uses the Snapdragon 7s Gen 2, also built on a 4nm process. Otherwise, the Redmi Note 13 Pro is very similar to the Pro+ model, including the 200MP camera.
Lastly, the Redmi Note 13 5G is the most affordable model, based on a MediaTek Dimensity 6080 processor, but it still sports the same flat 6.67-inch 120Hz display. The design is more simplified, and it’s not as protected against water and dust with only an IP54 rating. The camera has also been scaled back compared to the Pro model, featuring 108MP. The battery is 5,000mAh with 33W fast charging.
The Redmi Note 13 5G starts at 1199 yuan (about 153 euros), while the Redmi Note 13 Pro costs 1499 yuan (about 192 euros), and the Redmi Note 13 Pro+ is priced at 1999 yuan (about 256 euros). Prices and release dates have not been confirmed yet.
