Samsung is one of the mobile phone brands that customizes its models the most, adds more features to Android, and offers numerous possibilities. The problem is that many of these features are unknown to the general public. Among these uncommon functions are “Routines,” a kind of basic programming of actions that can be executed under specific conditions.
This feature allows you to configure the phone in such a detailed way that it’s possible for no two Samsung phones to be alike. In this case, we will create a Routine to make the phone announce loudly when the battery is low or when it is fully charged at 100% to indicate that it can be unplugged.
Not all Samsung phones have these functions, but many of them do. In this example, a Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has been used, although it is not the only model that has Routines.
To set up this function, go to the phone’s Settings and select the “Modes and Routines” option. Tap on the “Routines” option at the bottom right of the screen, and then tap on the + icon in the upper right corner to create the custom routine.
Once there, select the action that will trigger the routine. Scroll down until you find an option called “Battery level,” and enter the percentage at which the phone should give an alert. In this example, we will set it to 30%. Once done, tap on “Done.” Then select the action to be performed when that percentage is reached by tapping on the phrase “Add what this routine will do.”
When the list of options appears, tap on “Notifications,” and then on “Show custom notification.” Enter a title, such as “Low Battery,” and then enter the text, which will be what the phone says aloud. In this case, it will be “I need to be recharged.” Tap on the option “Read this notification aloud” and then on “Done.” Finally, choose a name for the routine, an icon, and a color.
If you want the phone to alert when it reaches 100% while plugged in, the process is the same, but you need to select the “100% battery” option and change the chosen phrase to be read aloud. You can configure other percentages or actions, as Routines is one of the significant innovations in Samsung for a long time.
