The incredible instant slow-motion camera feature of the Galaxy S24 will also come to these Samsung phones

In the analysis of the Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra, there was a feature that really caught attention, especially for being an ideal option for content creators or those users who want to surprise friends or family. It’s precisely ‘Instant Slow-Motion Camera,’ and as of today, it is confirmed to arrive on the Galaxy S23 and other Galaxy phones that will receive the AI functions.

Just yesterday, it was revealed that Samsung has decided to release ahead of schedule the One UI 6.1 update based on Android 14, which includes some of the AI features of the Galaxy S24. Next month, devices like the Galaxy S23, S23 FE, the foldables Z Fold 5 and Z Flip 5, as well as the Galaxy Tab S9 tablets, will be able to enjoy this new version.

All of these devices will also receive the new Instant Slow-Motion Camera experience from the Galaxy S24, which stands out for how easy it is to convert any video with a simple long press. In other words, you press and hold a video so that the slow-motion lasts just the duration of the press.

Samsung has announced through its user community forum that the Instant Slow-Motion Camera feature will come to the Galaxy S23 series, Galaxy Z Fold 5, Galaxy Z Flip 5, and Galaxy Tab S9. In fact, a moderator explained that Samsung is using both the GPU and the NPU to utilize the Instant Slow-Mo function and that the function requires 16.6 milliseconds of processing time for smooth real-time video playback.

This means that the Galaxy S22 series will miss out on this fantastic functionality that allows for the creation of slow-motion videos in seconds to share them on social media or chat apps. At the moment, it is unknown when Samsung plans to release this feature, but considering that the One UI 6.1 update would arrive for older Galaxy devices next month, it fits perfectly within the timeline.

Another great advantage of this feature is that it avoids the need to use the slow-motion video shooting mode and simply allows any locally stored video to play back a segment at a slower speed.

This is great news for owners of these phones, as in terms of software, it is one of the most surprising features already available on the Galaxy S4. Now, it only remains for Samsung to confirm the AI functions that older phones will receive to complete One UI 6.1.
