HyperOS is the new interface that Xiaomi has promised to many of its mobile devices, but which has yet to reach the majority of them. The Poco F3 is one of the models expected to receive it, but there are many questions surrounding this update. The device is still awaiting the update, leading to speculation about when the HyperOS Global will arrive on the Poco F3. There are even doubts about whether it will indeed receive it, considering the phone is now three years old. To clarify these questions, let’s take a look at everything we know so far.
The Poco F3 was launched in March 2021, making it three years since its release. At the time, it came with Android 11 under MIUI 12, and it has since been updated to Android 13 under MIUI 14, which was the second major system-level update it received several months ago. HyperOS would be its third major update, and likely its last. But when will it receive it? Is the update to HyperOS Global for the Poco F3 confirmed? Will it come with Android 14? Let’s find out.
Xiaomi announced HyperOS last year as its new interface for Android. It has already been deployed on some mobile devices, while others come with it pre-installed from the factory. Such is the case with the Poco X6 and X6 Pro, which were launched at the beginning of 2024 with the latest software from Xiaomi. But what about a three-year-old mobile like the Poco F3? Will it receive HyperOS Global?
Well, answering these questions, it is quite likely that it will. The Poco F3 is expected to get the HyperOS Global update. We would like to say it’s a certainty, but there has been no official confirmation from Xiaomi yet. Initially, it was thought that it would not receive it since most Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco devices are only promised up to two major OS updates, and the Poco F3 has already received the two updates that, at least theoretically, were due to it. However, this phone has been listed by the XiaomiMIUI portal as one of the lucky ones that will sooner or later get the HyperOS Global update.
If we were to speculate on when the HyperOS Global update for the Poco F3 will arrive, we’d say in the second half of 2024, between July and December. Of course, it could take longer than expected. In that case, it would be scheduled for early 2025. It’s important to note that there are many phones waiting for HyperOS. Xiaomi will prioritize the newer and more powerful models, so the Poco F3 might be one of the last to receive it.
What about the Poco F3 GT? Fortunately, it is also set to receive the HyperOS Global update, according to the XiaomiMIUI listing, which includes over 100 Xiaomi, Redmi, and Poco mobiles. It is most likely that it will be updated alongside the Poco F3 when its turn comes.
HyperOS was introduced as a user interface based on Android 14. However, older Xiaomi mobiles will receive the version with Android 13, according to information leaked earlier this year. It’s not official, but it seems logical that the price to pay for having a mobile device over 2 years old would be to receive the HyperOS Global update with Android 13. That is, both the Poco F3 and the F3 GT would later welcome HyperOS under Android 13 as the last major update they would receive.
