How to take care of your Samsung phone’s battery without installing any apps

Samsung is one of the top-selling mobile phone brands, along with Xiaomi. This means there are many users who use their mobile phones and charge them daily. This routine can be optimized by some practices allowed by the software on these phones.

On one hand, it’s possible to extend the lifespan of a mobile phone by not charging the battery to 100%, a practice that has been possible with many Samsung phones for some time. Additionally, you can maximize battery usage to make it last longer on each charge.

As always, a mobile phone’s battery life depends on usage patterns, screen brightness, the use of mobile connectivity or Wi-Fi, and the use of processor-intensive applications, which usually consume extra power.

Samsung consolidates all the battery-related parameters of its phones in a section of the system settings called “Device care” and “Battery.” Within this section, there are several options that can be configured:

Optimization: The first function is presented as a large button and allows you to optimize the system with a single tap. The phone will detect apps with excessive power consumption, close background processes, and more.

Background usage limits: Inside the battery section, there’s an option called “Background usage limits” that allows you to put apps to sleep in the background, preventing them from using energy. This reduces the number of times they run in the background. It’s useful for apps that don’t need real-time notifications or data.

Power saving: This option can be configured to lower screen brightness, limit processor power, turn off 5G, or disable the Ambient Display. It can increase battery life by approximately 30%.

More battery settings: The last menu in this section includes options like enabling or disabling fast charging and protecting the battery by limiting the maximum charge to 85%, which reduces long-term degradation.

All of these features are available in Samsung’s One UI, although some might not appear in older versions of the interface on certain phone models. As always, using your phone sensibly, avoiding extreme temperatures (hot or cold), and keeping it out of direct sunlight will help ensure both the battery and overall battery life remain good for as long as possible.
