Galaxy S24 to be AI Phones: Samsung Registers Trademarks ‘AI Phone’ and ‘AI Smartphone’

In the early days of October, it was revealed that Samsung was preparing its most significant update ever with One UI 6.1 based on Android 14. This dedication from the Korean brand stems from its desire for the Galaxy S24 to be recognized as AI phones. In fact, Samsung has registered trademarks for ‘AI Phone’ and ‘AI Smartphone.’

The idea makes perfect sense, as the tech giant aims to take advantage of Apple’s slow progress in bringing generative AI to the iPhone. This way, the Galaxy S24 can be acknowledged as AI phones or AI smartphones, positioning them as the forefront of AI in mobiles. Samsung has been preparing for this with the One UI 6.1 update (the current version is 6.0), incorporating AI generative features similar to those seen in ChatGPT or Google’s Bard.

Samsung has even chosen a name for its generative AI: Gauss. The company announced it earlier this month, making it clear that Gauss will permeate every aspect of the Galaxy S24. Shortly after registering the patent for ‘Samsung Glasses,’ the company also secured ‘AI Phone’ and ‘AI Smartphone.’

There are more details that can be gleaned from these patents. As reported by GalaxyClub, the tech giant is also working on other patents such as Magic Pixel, Flex Magic, and Flex Magic Pixel, although their uses have not been disclosed.

However, Samsung is currently trying to register these two patents. Given the generic nature of the names, approval is not guaranteed. The patent application suggests that Samsung intends to use these names in its marketing campaign for the Galaxy S24, promoting features that distinguish them from the current Galaxy S23 experience.

Similar to Honor’s goal of processing AI on-device rather than relying on the cloud for responding to messages, Samsung is also seeking to handle everything from the hardware. During the announcement of the Exynos 2400 chip, Samsung demonstrated its capability to create an image from text using AI. Notably, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 enables a large language model to function, and Stable Diffusion can easily handle various tasks.

According to WCCFTECH, it is evident that Samsung’s plans for the Galaxy S24 involve a significant software component with everything AI has to offer, along with some surprises the Korean manufacturer may have up its sleeve. For now, based on what has been revealed, Samsung’s approach doesn’t extend much beyond the solutions offered by Microsoft with Bing, ChatGPT through its mobile app, or Google’s Bard for composing emails.
