7 Features of Poco X6 and X6 Pro we would like to see

The Poco X6 and X6 Pro are about to be unveiled. Both phones will be among the most advanced in the brand for 2024, so much is expected from them. Currently, there’s nothing official about their features, but the rumors and leaks that have surfaced in recent weeks bring us closer to what we might receive at the time of their launch. Whatever the case, there are 7 features of the Poco X6 and X6 Pro that we would like to see. If they come with these, they will likely be two of the best mid-range phones of the year.

The Poco X5 and X5 Pro set a high bar. Nonetheless, we hope that the Poco X6 and X6 Pro will be better overall, being the successors. To make a significant leap in terms of features and become noteworthy mid-range phones in 2024, both must come with the 7 features listed here. Fortunately, we won’t have to wait long to find out if they have them, as the Poco X6 and X6 Pro will be officially launched in just a couple of days. The Chinese manufacturer has announced this through a promotional poster, stating that both phones will be unveiled in India on January 11 with great fanfare. That said, let’s explore the 7 features of the Poco X6 and X6 Pro that we would like to see.

A screen with a refresh rate of up to 144 Hz and higher brightness

One of the things we would like to see in the new Poco X6 and X6 Pro is a screen with a refresh rate of 144 Hz. However, we must be prudent and consider that this would likely be reserved for the Poco X6 Pro, being the more advanced of the two. The Poco X6, on the other hand, would continue with a 120 Hz display.

If the Poco X6 Pro comes with this feature, it would be the first phone from the brand to have it. This would make it a much more interesting device for gaming, as many games would run more smoothly at a higher frame rate, improving the gaming experience, especially in competitive titles like battle royales (PUBGM, CoD, Free Fire, etc.). But not only gaming would benefit from a 144 Hz display. Scrolling and animations could also be appreciated with greater smoothness.

Additionally, we also hope that the display on both phones has a brightness greater than 1,200 nits, which is the maximum brightness achieved by the Poco X5’s screen (the X5 Pro reached 900 nits). Therefore, we would like to see an improvement in this regard, appreciating a brightness close to 2,000 nits.

The most advanced processor for the current mid-range

POCO X6 - 01

Another feature we would like to see with the Poco X6 and X6 Pro is significantly better performance than what we got with the X5 and X5 Pro. Luckily, as expected, there will be an improvement in this aspect, but we still don’t know how much power difference there will be between the new generation and the previous one. However, the latest rumors suggest that the Poco X6 Pro will have one of the most advanced processors of the moment for the mid-range in 2024. Yes, we’re talking about MediaTek’s Dimensity 8300 Ultra chipset, a piece that competes with some high-end ones due to the power it boasts. We would have preferred a Qualcomm processor, but right now, this is the one that offers the best performance in the mid-range, as even the Snapdragon 7 Plus Gen 2 is not as powerful. So, the Poco X6 Pro will make a significant leap in terms of performance, making it much better for running graphics-intensive games and heavy applications.

Now, regarding the Poco X6, we don’t have many details about the processor it will have, but Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 7 Gen 1 or Dimensity 1300 seem to be the ones that best fit its specifications.

A camera with a telephoto lens

POCO X6 - 02

Another recent rumor suggests that the Poco X6 Pro will come with a main camera of 200 megapixels, while the Poco X6 would have one of 50 megapixels. Both would have a triple camera system, with the typical wide-angle as a secondary sensor and a macro to complete the photographic trio. However, another feature of the Poco X6 and X6 Pro that we would like to see is a telephoto lens in this camera module. This way, both would have a main camera, a telephoto lens, and a wide-angle lens, replacing the macro sensor, which is often of little use. But, being realistic, the telephoto lens would only be expected in the Poco X6 Pro, if at all. There is no information mentioning it, but it would certainly be something we would appreciate.

120 W fast charging

POCO X6 - 03

Both the Poco X5 and X5 Pro were introduced with a 5,000 mAh battery. This is the same capacity we expect in the Poco X6 and X6 Pro, as it is unlikely they would come with a larger one. However, we do expect them to have faster charging than their predecessors, which is 33 W and 67 W, respectively. We would like the Poco X6 to adopt the 67 W fast charging, and the Poco X6 Pro to feature 120 W fast charging. This way, the X6 would take about 45 minutes for a full charge, and the X6 Pro less than 20 minutes. We would also like them to keep the charger in the box.

An advanced cooling system to prevent overheating

POCO X6 - 04

For better internal temperature control, the Poco X6 and X6 Pro must have an advanced cooling system. This way, both would more effectively avoid overheating, especially when playing for several hours. Undoubtedly, this would be another feature we would like to see in the Poco X6 and X6 Pro.

A completely renewed design

POCO X6 - 05

To distinguish themselves from their predecessors, it is necessary for the Poco X6 and X6 Pro to opt for a new design. We do not expect something similar to what we already have with the Poco X5 and X5 Pro, and it seems that we won’t. In the promotional posters for their launch, we can see how different their camera modules are, although everything else seems to remain the same. However, at least we hope that the backs are made of glass, and the frames are metallic. Only then would we have a more premium feel in hand than with the Poco X5 and X5 Pro, which are entirely made of plastic.

No less than 4 years of Android updates

The Poco X5 and X5 Pro were introduced with two years of Android updates, which is very little. Nowadays, mid-range phones like the Samsung Galaxy A54 and A34 boast 4 years of operating system updates and 5 years of minor updates. In this regard, Poco phones have been far behind, so we would like to see the Poco X6 and X6 Pro change this scheme and have, at a minimum, 4 years of Android updates. If not, to be less demanding, they should have at least 3 years of Android updates. That would already be something to appreciate, considering what we have seen so far.
